The Neo Prime Ascendancy: Analyzing Anduril’s Continued Expansion

April 21, 2026Competitive Intelligence, GD4A, MDA, Mergers and Acquisitions, Top GOVCON Competitors, U.S. Army, USAF, USSFBrian Lindholm

Since our last blog in June 2025, Anduril Industries has enhanced its overall competitive position in the defense market.  They continue to evolve from a disruptive Silicon Valley defense technology startup into a mainstream and established defense prime. This transition signifies a structural shift in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), where Neo Primes who come to market with a product first mindset appeal to the “commercial first” mindset of the U.S. military.

By framing its mission as “rebooting the arsenal of democracy,” Anduril has moved beyond selling niche autonomous systems to providing the enterprise-scale architecture required for modern, distributed warfare. The company’s competitive moat is anchored by the Lattice AI platform—the digital “glue layer” of the Department of War (DoW)—and the “Arsenal-1” manufacturing vision, which provides the industrial mass necessary to sustain high-intensity conflict. These developments have enabled a more than $4 billion potential revenue in 2026 with a desire for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the horizion.

Recent Contract Wins

The U.S. military’s procurement strategy is currently undergoing its most significant realignment since the Cold War, pivoting from the acquisition of siloed, exquisite hardware to a “commercial first” product mindset and heavy interest in autonomous weapons and AI capabilities. Anduril has capitalized on this shift by securing landmark contracts that move the company from a platform vendor to a provider of essential national security infrastructure.

Contract NameGovernment CustomerScope of WorkTotal Contract Value/Duration
Army Enterprise ContractU.S. ArmyBroad access to Lattice AI across the entire U.S. Army.$20 Billion / 10 Years
Andromeda IDIQUSSF /  Space Systems CommandProcurement of space-based Space Domain Awareness (SDA) capabilities.$1.8 Billion / 10 years

The Army Enterprise Contract is the strategic centerpiece of this portfolio. There are some very immediate and significant takeaways on this award.

  • While the U.S. Army did not mandate the use of Lattice AI, it made it easier to buy at scale, thereby enabling adoption also at scale.
  • This is, in essence, an endorsement of Lattice AI across the entire U.S. Army.
  • The signal is sent to industry that if you are selling autonomous weapons, it would be really good to be able to work with Lattice AI.

This massive win acts as an existential threat to legacy primes whose business models depend on proprietary, non-interoperable hardware siloes.

Note that the Enterprise-wide contract for Lattice AI is similar to an Army-wide contract and virtual endorsement, as we witnessed with Palantir’s similar award in 2025.

Acquisition Activity to Accelerate Growth

Since June 2025, Anduril has executed a series of aggressive acquisitions to secure the critical hardware components—sensing and propulsion—that empower its software.

  • ExoAnalytic Solutions – March 2026: This acquisition was integral to expanding Anduril’s space domain awareness play with its global network of 400 telescopes. This network provides Space Domain Awareness (SDA), allowing Anduril to track objects in deep space and directly challenge legacy primes for multi-billion-dollar U.S. Space Force programs.  This acquisition is consistent with Anduril’s push in SDA and related wins such as the Andromeda Multiple Award IDIQ (formerly RG-XX).
  • American Infrared Solutions (AIRS) – October 2025: By acquiring this provider of high-performance cooled infrared cameras, Anduril has added another sensing capability used across all domains. It is important to note that AIRS was a supplier to Anduril.  Anduril also adds a revenue opportunity as a supplier to other defense industrial businesses.

Anduril continues to expand its technology portfolio, and a common theme is sensors, which fold into its expansive domain awareness and C2 capabilities.

Lattice AI – The Sticky C2 Solution

Lattice AI is the “secret sauce” of Anduril’s market position—an open-architecture platform that abstracts the complexity of distributed warfare. It enables autonomous weapons to work as a team to minimize the number of humans needed and to manage the flow of information.

The Lattice Partner Program continues to expand with partners in space domain awareness, autonomous vehicles OEMs, Cloud Service Providers, and logistics.  Examples of some partners include:

  • Oracle: Utilizing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to enable Lattice operations in disrupted, disconnected, and low-bandwidth (DDIL) environments at the tactical edge.
  • Scale AI: Integrating the “Donovan” LLM with Lattice to enable machine-speed joint staff planning and orchestration.
  • Apex Space: Offering Lattice as a C2 option for Aries satellite buses to support rapidly deployable, proliferated space systems.

Anduril’s Role in Golden Dome

The Golden Dome initiative is a $185 billion strategic defense program designed to negate the threat of ballistic and hypersonic missiles, drone swarms, and advanced cruise missiles.  it represents the most ambitious defense project in decades.

Anduril’s Strategic Contributions:

  • The Software “Glue Layer” via C2 Consortium: One of nine members of a C2 software consortium to develop overall C2 systems critical for Golden Dome.  This is an interesting blend of legacy aerospace OEMs and other “newer” primes.
  • Andromeda contract award: Mentioned earlier, this is directly relevant.
  • Space-Based Interceptor Prototypes: Developing orbit-based kinetic weapons in partnership with Impulse Space.

FedSavvy Takeaway

Anduril Industries continues to grow rapidly as a major Neo Prime through its product-centric approach, the proliferation of Lattice AI, successful wins in high-growth national security programs such as Golden Dome, and a defining role in autonomous systems.  Anduril is making itself integral to many aspects of national security and is truly indicative of the Neo Prime’s disruptive impact.

Frequently Asked Questions: The Rise of Neo Primes

What is a “Neo Prime” in the defense industry?

A Neo Prime is a new breed of defense contractor, typically born out of Silicon Valley, that prioritizes a “product-first” and software-centric mindset over the traditional “exquisite hardware” model. Unlike legacy primes, Neo Primes like Anduril invest heavily in private R&D to develop commercially available products—such as the Lattice AI platform—which are then sold to the military at scale, rather than through decades-long, government-funded development cycles.

How much is the Anduril Army Enterprise Contract worth?

The U.S. Army awarded Anduril Industries a landmark $20 billion, 10-year enterprise contract in March 2026. This firm-fixed-price agreement consolidates over 120 previous procurement actions into a single framework. It allows the Army to scale the Lattice AI suite across the entire force, streamlining the integration of autonomous hardware, sensing, and command-and-control (C2) infrastructure.

What is the “Golden Dome” initiative?

The Golden Dome (formerly known as “Iron Dome for America”) is a $185 billion multi-layered missile defense shield designed to protect the United States from ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missile threats. It utilizes a distributed network of space-based interceptors and sensors. Anduril plays a critical role in the initiative as a member of the C2 Consortium, providing the software “glue layer” that enables real-time decision-making and sensor fusion.

What is the Lattice AI platform?

Lattice AI is an open-architecture software platform developed by Anduril that serves as the digital backbone for autonomous systems. It functions as a Command and Control (C2) layer, ingesting data from thousands of distributed sensors and utilizing AI to detect, track, and classify objects. Lattice enables disparate autonomous platforms—from undersea drones to space-based telescopes—to work as a unified team with minimal human intervention.
